4 Songs You Should Know About

Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers

Electronic super group/gods Daft Punk originally previewed a snippet of this video at their set at the Coachella Music festival last weekend. 7 days later it is already almost a classic. Da Funk Robots are back with more of just that and this time they brought friends. Pharrell provides the vocals for the track and legendary guitarist Niles Rodgers provides a violently catchy riff. This will be one of the biggest songs of the year and deservingly so. It also could end being the driving cause behind the reemergence of disco.

Big Sean ft. Common- Switch Up

This is the latest release from D-Town's finest and a pretty good addition to his collection. In "Switch Up" he shows his superb ability to make terribly catchy hip hop hooks. Add in two very strong verses in which he kinda uses a higher pitched tone but really cool intricate flows. Also a solid but unconventional common verse using pseudo-trap flows.. At first I was like chill old head, but he kinda kills it so it gets a pass.

Travi$ Scott ft. T.I. & 2 Chainz- Upper Echelon

Young Travi$ was all over the place this week between dropping a new song and announcing that he has inked a deal with T.I.' s Grand Hustle label. (Sidenote: Scott has also previously confirmed being signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D Music label.. How that works, I have no clue.) The song itself is a trap dream. Scott has not only built a buzz as rapper but also as a producer, drawing comparison to his mentor Yeezy, and this joint is a banger. Add fantastic T.I. and 2 Chainz verses and we got ourselves an anthem. (Straight up)

Kid Cudi ft. King Chip & A$AP Rocky- Brothers

On this Indicud album that I can only hope will eventually be a single, The Wizard, King Chip and A$AP Rocky all lay down their thoughts on their close friends and what makes them "Brothers". Hook-master Cud provides a cool melody in which he proclaims "This is how its 'sposed to be". Add that with very solid A$AP and Chip verses and we got ourselves a banger.
