[LISTEN] Solange & Various Artists - 'Saint Heron' EP

Solange Knowles is doing work. She founded her own Sony imprint label, Saint Records, and executive produced it's debut compilation album, Saint Heron, which dropped November 11. Talking to Andrew Hampp from Billboard about the project a week ago, Knowles explained how her inspiration came from her desire to incorporate some unknown and overlooked R&B talents. Though she did call upon the likes of Sampha, Jhene Aiko, and Cassie, and even throwing in her own "Cash In", the more unheard of artists such as BC Kingdom, Kelela, Starchild, India Shawn, and others do a fine job of rounding out such a worldly concept and cohesion. Plenty to enjoy from Saint Heron, and with our best of's for Hip-Hop and R&B projects list approaching, I'm glad we have this now. Hit the jump for some previews and stream the full project here.

NEW MUSIC: Haim - "Falling"

This indie pop band comprised of three sisters have been releasing singles from their debut album Days Are Gone since last year. The album dropped last week, and the group is on my radar since their cameo on Kid Cudi's "Red Eye" from his Indicud album earlier this year. Among the different grooves on Days Are Gone, this cut particularly caught my ear because of its uplifting rhythm of pop drums and bass guitar riffs. I guess it could be considered 'feel good' music, but for now it's just what I'm hearing. Check out the song after the jump and the album if you're feeling froggy.
