NEW MUSIC: Terrace Martin - "From Time"
I keep telling people this man is our generation's Quincey Jones and I still feel like people don't understand. Terrace Martin does a jazz cover of Drake's "From Time" record, replacing the vocals with his saxophone. You're welcome.

Recommended: Terrace Martin - '3ChordFold'
I posted two records from this project as they leaked over the last couple of weeks, so by now you should know that Terrace Martin is the modern-day Quincy Jones. The hip-hop-jazz musician and songwriter is acclaimed among music circles; his saxophone-ridden trademark is a coveted bonus to his own modest, expressive lyricism. '3ChordFold' is essentially a relationship-themed project, meant to draw on Martin's core influences to evoke a variety of tender themes. He's the only one that could bring (formerly known as) Snoop Dogg and Lalah Hathaway together for a joint hook ("I'm For Real"). He also recruits the like of Robert Glasper for the 12-minute "Gone", Musiq Soulchild ("Over Time"), Wiz Khalifa ("Motivation"), Kendrick Lamar "Triangleship", all of whom mutually benefit from Martin's jazz blueprint. This is a must-have for hip-hop/jazz lovers like myself. Start right at the top with "Ab-Soul's Intro" below, an exquisite blend of vocals, intimate raps from Ab, and Martin's distinctive saxophone.

Terrace Martin feat. Kendrick Lamar - "Triangleship"
We get another cut from Terrace Martin's '3ChordFold' album, which drops tomorrow; featuring the likes of Ab-Soul, James Fauntleroy, Wiz Khalifa, and more, this one pairs Martin's jazz platform with hip-hop's flamethrower Kendrick Lamar. Check out the love-triangle-themed track below.

| TERRACE MARTIN'S '3CHORDFOLD' PROJECT DROPS AUGUST 13TH |
Three men who have come to be recognized as musical geniuses recently collaborated. TERRACE MARTIN, the rap-jazz-soul artist, musician, and instrumentalist, whom I've referred to as the modern day Quincy Jones; JAMES FAUNTLEROY, the credited co-writer on Justin Timberlake's 'The 20/20 Experience'; and ROBERT GLASPER, the Grammy award-winning jazz pianist whose 'Black Radio' finished 5th on our top R&B albums of last year. Their influences merge cohesively and each individual style is represented instrumentally. Check out the video below, where Martin delivers an earnest verse to a female and Fauntleroy's vocals over the layered rhythms. You can't miss with this one:
