[LISTEN] M.I.A. - "Y.A.L.A."

Y.A.L.A. the 11th track on her 4th studio album Matangi, at first glance seems like another club banger with that heavy London underground flare we’ve all come to expect and love from M.I.A. The beat was produced by Dutch production team "The Party Squad" it's heavy in drum and bass, which sets the perfect tone for this hype track. On closer inspection we see that Y.A.L.A is a cleverly disguised critic on the wildly famous phrase Y.O.L.O. (you only live once). Y.A.L.A. is the achronim for You Always Live Again, a reference to her religious views on rencarantion and re-birth, at the end of the track she gives an opinionated monologe on these topics. The song though caries all the classic M.I.A. traits, hard beats and clean vocals, making this track, like her past hit singles (Paper Planes and Bad Girls) completley unforgettable
